If my long term disability runs out at 65 what do I do and I can not perform my previous employment
If your LTD policy maxes out at 65, and you can't work, you'll have to find alternative income. You can consider trying to access your CPP/private pension options.
You can also read about certain provincial and federal government assistance programs that may be available to you on our website, at: https://stlawyers.ca/disability-law/faq/government-income-support-programs/ (not an exhaustive list). That said, most of those max-out at 65 as well.
Pension/retirement is typically your best option in this situation; however, this can have negative impacts on your severance rights and benefit coverage, among other things, so you may want to speak to an employment lawyer and/or your accountant before taking any concrete steps. (For example, you may want to try to collect frustration severance monies before retiring. Again, the employment team can advise further.)
