Long haul Covid-19 Hello, I am in my mid 40’s and I caught Covid-19 back in March 2022 and have been off work ever since (symptoms such as extreme exhaustion, SOB, brain fog (trouble concentrating, remember and putting items into action to name a few). In July 2022, my disability benefits began. In April 2023, my case manager sent me for a two-day Neuropsychological IME. Half way through the second day I had a major “energy” crash causing me to become very weak both physically and mentally. The IME Doctor decided to postpone the rest of the testing and I needed assistance to walk out of the office building to the car. The following month I complete the remaining tests. My case manager called after and informed me they were “bookending” the IME with another an Independent Psychiatric Evaluation (IPE). I am still waiting for copies of the reports. Last week I received an email from my case manager that says “As we have a fair amount of new medical information, I am referring your file to be reviewed by a medical consultant at the head office who has a background working with Long haul Covid.” They also sent a document asking for me to describe my education, training and experience as well as sending a resume As a result of watching your show, in the past, I felt that my case manager was applying pressure for me to return to work and would often make quips. I now have an advocate that attends any meetings and also completes meeting notes that are sent after the call to the case manager. In addition, I have a wonderful medical team (GP, OT, PT and Social Worker) that are very supportive. I want to get better, enjoy my life, and return to my career. I currently do not feel capable of returning to work. Question: I feel with the back-to-back IME and now the “consultant” my case manager is trying to find a way to cut my benefits via some kind of back to work training, boot camp or just cutting the benefits. Is it typical to have this many IME’s and a consultant as well as completing education and training forms?
