I'm on LTD and am on a waiting list to see a psychiatrist. My insurer has offered to pay for an online consultation with one. Am I required to do this? Is there any risk to doing this since it is setup by the insurer?

If they are asking that you attend an assessment with their doctor, they may have the right to make this request, but it does depend on your policy. I recommend asking your insurer, in writing, where in the policy it says they have the right to do this, as this will help determine if you're 'required' to or not. These doctors are not often impartial, however, so you should still maintain treatment and care with your own doctors. If they try to send you back to work or cut off your benefits against your own doctors recommendations, let us know ASAP and we can help.
