My union also manages my LTD policy, while claiming that the two are separate entities. The case manager assigned to me has contacted my psychiatrist and translated a long term plan into a short term demand that was crafted into a letter to me. I feel violated. My psychiatrist has been clear that I can't do my job but I'm not totally disabled. Since my university education is very niche, I want to be retrained for a different career. My insurer says that I have transferrable skills and frequently suggests that I relocate for work since I live in a small town with limited jobs available. I am approaching two years on LTD and the stress of these uninformed demands on me is mounting in lockstep. How do I navigate this while dealing with extreme anxiety?

I'm sorry to hear the difficulties you're facing. Working with your medical providers is typically the best way to navigate these situations. If moving isn't feasible for you, and your medical team supports that, then they should clearly state such.
If your union manages and pays, you may need to talk with your union representative to discuss next steps.
However, if an external insurance company is also involved, we may be able to assist. Please give us a call at our number below if this is the case.
