Ask your question and a Long-term Disability Lawyer in Canada will answer in minutes
I am getting short-term disability due to a supposed nerve injury to my arms that do not allow me to perform my usual desk job duties (mouse clicking, typing etc) and I have been going to regular appointments with my physiotherapist and I have gotten a two month back to work assessment with my family doctor. And when I was nearing one month into my leave, my case manager finally got back to me after reviewing my files (including my family doctor's assessment) and said that she would only grant me one month (the one month that I am nearing). She says that I have to get another "follow-up checklist" form done by my physiotherapist. Is what my case manager did a form of denial and do I just go with what my case manager says or should I appeal (and in what form)? Or is this practice just status quo and I have to fill out all these forms to "appeal" or "extend" my short term leave period?
I'm going to email you about this directly.
