I am receiving CPP disability & LTD. On Friday my LTD ins company provider told me that they know I am also receiving CPP Disability and they have advised me that I will be having a reduction on my LTD payments. Ist this allowed? I didn't disclose to them that I was receiving CPP Disability. I don't know how they found out, my case manager asked me and I admitted that I am. I am super worried because my CPP Disability and LTD pay is very low because it's based on my junior salary pay from being a flight attendant Unfortunately Cdn flight attendants are getting exploited by not being paid for our time only partially and therefore my pay is not reflective from the hours I worked. I am terrifed that I will be homeless and not be able to survive. I can not return to work as a flight attendant because of my health and if I return to work on the ground my time working on the ground is only half compared to working in the air. Basically I will be paid minimum wage because of my seniority/pay grade ... if that. So if I work 8 hours I will only be paid for half of the "credit"time. It's horrible to go to work for 8 hours but be told that you will only be paid for 4. When I asked my union about this it's because of something called "Past Practice" I would love to speak with someone who could give me some advisce aobut how to handle my situation about how to handle this situation.

Whether CPPD is deductible from LTD is entirely dependent on the terms of your specific policy. You should get a copy of your policy, and check the deduction terms and/or ask your case manager to send you a copy of the term(s) they are relying on in claiming the offset. That said, under most modern policies, CPPD is in fact deductible.

If you are approved for both LTD and CPPD, you should consider also applying for the Disability Tax Credit, at: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/segments/tax-credits-deductions-persons-disabilities/disability-tax-credit.html.

Lastly, regarding questions about your employment/employer, those should be directed to your union.
