Hello, I have a question about applying for CPP disability asked to apply by my insurance provider. I started long term disability with them Aug 7 2023. I am currently 64 years old and will be 65 Sept 2 of this year.
I understand that CPP Disability benefits are only paid until I am 65. Will this affect my regular CPP benefits as I would be drawing them a bit early and am sure that I would be penalized. I also wonder if my benefits for CPP disability will be less then what my insurance company is paying now which is $3633.00, would they be required to top me up or would I lose this money. The insurance company premiums are paid by myself and the Change of Definition date is the date the assessment changes from own occupation to any occupation. In my case, it occurs on August 7 2025 and I'll be almost 66 and no longer qualify for CPP.

Do I have to comply with the manulife request to apply for CPP or am I able to refuse
?

I'm going to email you about this directly.
