I’m currently off work and on disability. I provided both my employer and the insurance company with a doctors note clearing me to return to work. My employer is ready to have me back but requires the insurance company to acknowledge my return. I received an email from the insurance company stating it is their opinion that I should work from home. What grounds, if any do they have to keep me from returning to work? Are they legally in a position to go against what my doctor is recommending? Can they ask me to get a second opinion from another doctor?

Thanks for your question. Only your doctor should have a say in the return to work plan, and the employer must abide by that. If there is still an issue, please reach out to our employment team at 1-855-821-5900 for guidance
