I have been on LTD since leave since March 2022 and collecting insurance payments since July 2022 as I have long covid. The insurance company is sending me for a IME (case manager said its so we can get a baseline of your functioning) and friends have offerred to step in and help be an advote when I need to speak to the insurance company case manager as I get easily confused, cant respond to quips that are made in time and feel defenless. One of my advocates has completed a few lengthy documents (1. a comparision of my weekday pre/post covid / Weekend pre/post timeline showing my daily routines) and 2. a lengthy document identifying my symptoms under physical, mental, emtoianal categories. My friend that completed all this work has also written a cover page declaring that she has written the above mentioned items via interviews with me, my notes and also conversations so people do not think I could create this document as currently its not in my capability.
Question: It has been suggested that I give this information to the IME (I am being sent for a nueropsycholigcal assessment) and later this month send a copy to the case manager. I have already given a copy to my GP, Occupational therapist, physiotherapist. Do you feel providing these lengthy documents will help either the IME or case manager? I will be referring to the documents during my IME as my memory, ability to concentrate and brain fog make it extremely hard to remember,
PS. Your website, youtube videos and all the information has been so appreciave it has made me cry.
Generally, this is not a bad idea. However, I can't really advise you on whether the documents will be helpful or potentially harmful to your case without having seen them.
That said, if you've already given them to your GP, etc., then it's rather likely that the insurer will eventually become aware of the documents anyway.
If you're cut-off LTD after the IME, be sure to contact us for a free consultation.
