Ask your question and a Long-term Disability Lawyer in Canada will answer in minutes
My insurance company is insisting that I speak to them over the phone during my Short-term disability but I have requested them for medical accommodation to keep things on email. They are not agreeing. What options do I have?
You should speak with your doctor and discuss how communicating by phone is difficult for you, and you wish to have all communication done by email. You and your doctor should communicate this to the insurance company as well. Unfortunately, they typically have no legal obligation to comply with this request.
If they refuse, you would still be obligated to communicate with your insurer to ensure they get the information they require about your claim. If you run into any issues, please give us a call or email our disability specialist, Rebecca, at rebecca.permis@stlawyers.ca for assistance
