I had a back injury in approx 2019 at work and was off for 6 weeks under WSIB. I also recorded one other back injury with WSIB before that but did not have any missed time. Since then, I have been off work due to PTSD through WSIB since 2021 and just finished schooling they put me through and am set to find a new job. However, about 6 months ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my back and seem to be having a lot of issues with it. What I’m wondering is
A) when applying for new jobs would I select that I identify as someone with a disability?
B) is there anything I can do about my back injury related claims and my new diagnosis of osteoarthritis?

Thanks for your email.
A: Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with an answer to this question. Typically, that is a self-declaration question, meaning you have to determine if you feel you are someone with a disability. You can read more about what the government of Canada says on this topic here (https://www.canada.ca/en/services/jobs/opportunities/government/self-declaring-because-we-care.html) and that may help you make your decision.
B: We don't handle WSIB matters here, so I can't say for certain. I recommend contacting a WSIB specific legal representative to discuss that in more detail.
