I am currently on LTD and have decided to return to work. A proposed Return to work plan was created with my medical team with a 12 week gradual work schedule with accommodation of work from home until May 2026 . The Manulife representative indicated that the plan was approved and sent it to me and my employer. However, the plan was modified with accommodation of wfh until March instead of May . I have questioned Manulife on the discrepancy of the modified plan and haven’t received any response. How do I proceeed?
It will depend on if your insurer or the employer changed the plan. If your employer refused to accommodate you for the duration of the proposed plan, then you may have a human rights claim available against them.
If, however, your insurer changed the plan without your own doctors support, you should speak with your doctor and have them provide medical support highlighting their recommended plan and why it's medically necessary for you.
