I've been communicating with my doctor and LTD case coordinator. My LTD insurance company is requesting a copy of my whole file. My doctor was requesting payment from them although didn't indicate now much but suggested they would need to be in contact about it. LTD keeps requesting the files and my doctor keeps requesting payment but neither are coordinating with one another or even communicating directly. I have offered to pay for the files myself and hopefully be reimbursed by LTD. My doctor refused and said he'd need to hire someone because the whole file is paper and also said there was no need for an entire file, that his assessments and written notes would be enough. I don't know what to do at this point as LTD is currently reassessing my eligibility.
Explain this to the insurer and ask if they can work with your doctors office for a compromise, something like a request to recieve medical summaries instead of full clinical notes, or shorten the timeline requested. Unfortunately, if they continue to insist, its important that they do recieve the medical information requested as its typically allowed under the policy. You would then need to try and coordinate with your doctors office to the best of your ability to get those notes sent. If your insurer tries to end your benefits or threatens you, please let us know ASAP so we can help.
