I recently got approved for STD claim for undetermined amount of time as per my Physician Statement due to a recent diagnosis of anxiety (although it states 3 months on the physician statement with undetermined return to work date). My insurer approved my claim for about 1 month since 1st week of march. I am currently on counselling and medication and the insurer requested more information from the physician when I already provided the Physician Statement that I had the doctor filled out on top of the Physician Statement. After providing that additional information from my doctor, the insurer is contacting me again for additional information. Has any of my right been violated as this is causing me more anxiety and stress when I simply want to heal. They called me twice within an hour and a half yesterday when I requested to be contacted by email in the past as well. This is the information provided by a doctor ( NP) and why am I being questioned and contacted for this? Thank you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your insurer. It is fairly standard that they periodically reach out to you to gather more information about your claim, but there are limitations this. I recommend reviewing our FAQ guide on dealing with adjusters https://stlawyers.ca/disability-law/faq/difficult-adjusters-long-term-disability/.
