I have been approved for LTD disability benefits back in June. They have requested an update from my doctor in addition to my full chart. I have sent them the updated assessment however my doctor is currently not sending the chart as he wants more payment because it's all paper based. He says it needs to be copied and he's requesting more payment for that. I keep letting my doctor know about the requests from my insurance company and my insurance company keeps requesting the information they want and my doctor keeps requesting more money. He said he faxed them and then indicated on the assessment that he was requesting more funds. But my insurance company and my doctor won't talk to each other directly they just keep advising what they want to each other and me without actually discussing any of it. I don't want this to impact my continued approval for benefits. Do you have any advice for me?

I'm sorry to hear this. Its a tricky spot to balance. Your insurer is entitled to the medical records and they often cant process claims without it. If your insurer isnt communicating directly with the doctors office, you can ask them if you can provide authorization for them to communicate directly to help streamline things.
Ultimately, for the sake of your claim, you could confirm with your insurer they would pay all fees, and once you have that confirmation, proceed to pay the doctors office directly to keep your claim ongoing, and then seek reimbursement from the insurer.
