I applied for Short term disability in December . My insurer has asked for a copy of my drs clinical notes, consultation reports and any test results for the last 4 months to make an assessment on the viability of my claim . Is this advisable? Is it better to have a dr write a letter instead? Their Short term disability required form was already filled out and submitted mid December. They also want to conduct an interview with me.

Your duties as a claimant will be outlined in the terms of the policy. You should start with a review of those terms. Generally speaking though, you'll have a duty to provide relevant medical records, and to answer relevant medical questions.
