I applied for disability for anxiety and depression through my employer's insurance plan. Ten days after my last day worked, I injured my leg and was off my feet for another month. Twenty days after my last day worked, I was in hospital for three days regarding a heart event. The leg injury was not on my claim as an illness/injury that prevented me from working but the heart issues were on my claim. The insurance company approved the period I was off work due to the leg injury. Regarding my heart, they said they have not established continuance of total disability from the date I ceased working and therefore benefits are not payable for this period of absence. The qualifying period of my insurance is 5 days from date of disability and both the leg injury and heart issues were past the 5 days. I am wondering what the difference is between the leg injury and the heart issue regarding a continuance of total disability?
