at 66 years of age I gave my employer notice of my intent to retire.(June 2024)
July 05 2024 was to be my last day.
On July 01 2024 i suffered a heart attack and did not return to work.
I did not get pay for the week of July 01.
Is it worth trying to receive any type of disability pay
as I was still employed when I had the heart attack?

With regard to Short-Term or Long-Term Disability (STD or LTD) benefits, most policies don't pay past age 65, but you could certainly check your policy to be sure.

You can also read about certain provincial and federal government assistance programs that may be available to you on our website, at: https://stlawyers.ca/disability-law/faq/government-income-support-programs/ (not an exhaustive list).

With regard to collecting any monies from your employer, I hate to move you around from one place to another, but you’ve actually connected to our LTD department, as opposed to our employment team – and this would really be an employment matter.

I recommend using our free employment questions website (www.terminationquestions.com) as a starting point.
