I have been on LTD for 5 months with Canada Life, for anxiety, depression, migraines and just recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and PTSD. My husband and I are empty-nesters. He is being sent to the US for 3.5 months by his employer and I asked my case worker if I could join him. She declined saying that I cannot get treatment while I'm there. My therapist has already said that we can do therapy over the phone while I'm gone and that it would be a good idea to have a change of scenery. My neurologist and other doctor's appts are not until May, and we will be back in Canada by then. We live in Northern Ontario, in a remote area where the closest grocery store is an hour away. My anxiety is horrible and I'm scared to be alone for so long. I can't drive, especially in the winter, because of panic attacks. I have nowhere else to stay and can't find anyone to stay with me. My case worker also said that she is actively arranging rehabilitation for me. Not sure how Im going to get to it when i cant drive. Is there anything I can do to fight this? This has me really arrested out.

Your policy likely has "travel terms" which state whether you're permitted to leave the country while on claim, and if so, for how long. That said, sometimes when such travel terms permit a trip, insurance companies will try to get around those terms by arguing that the claimant won't be able to get appropriate care or treatment while gone, which is another requirement under the policy.

I'm going to email you directly to discuss your options.
