I have been on LTD for over 1.5 years and still under my own occupation per the policy. After 2 years it switches to any occupation.

Currently, I am receiving treatment (per doctor/ mental health professional) and have been approved for more funding for therapy sessions through insurance. The insurer has said that if they do not see progress in the treatment, they will not renew this treatment plan and may refer me to thier rehabilitation consultant
for thier treatment program/work hardening/ return to work etc. In the policy, it states that not taking part in such program means termination of benefits. I'm confused though, because if the doctor has cleared me for being off work with a referral to a mental health professional, and my mental health professional is suggesting more sessions, can the insurer force me to see thier provider and take over my treatment plan?

Also, my insurer informed me that my occupation is no longer available with my employer, but the employer has another job they can possibly offer. Can my insurer push me to RTW in this new role, especially under the own occupation timeline? Since my job is no longer available, are there consequences to quitting while on LTD? I've tried to ask the insurer what all of the options are (ex. does RTW have to be with this employer, is retraining an option) but the answers I recieve seem vague and confusing and the outcome seems to be based on my cognitive functioning. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm going to email you about this directly.
