Ask your question and a Long-term Disability Lawyer in Canada will answer in minutes
I have been on LTD for the last 1.5 hrs after my 3rd neck surgery and have nerve pain and can not work. The insurance company is sending me for an FCE next week. What should I know?
That's a great question. The purpose of an FCE is to identify any restrictions, determine your functionality and assess your capacity to work.
You can go to our website www.ltdfaq.ca and read our guide on Independent Medical Examinations. While IME's are not the exact same as FCE's, many of the same principles on how to prepare/what to expect still apply. You will need to answer all questions/assessments honestly. If you have further questions, you can speak with our disability specialist, Rebecca, at 1-844-661-9065 x132 or rebecca.stap@stlawyers.ca.
Ultimately, if your insurer attempts to end your benefits as a result of this FCE, contact us ASAP and we will help.
