Add Comment Question: Federal Public Servant and I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Tried everything in the past year therapy, medications and specialists but nothing has worked for me. Sunlife is the insurance company. Waiting for a determination however really want to work just don't know if I can given the illness. If I try and go back while the determination is still pending and I fail will my claim have to be restarted? Also there is a 13 week elimination period. If I had sick leave that was more than 13 weeks and I applied closer to my sick leave expiring will I have to wait for Sunlifes benefits to kick in? I was advised by Sunlife that the 13 week elimination period was already satisfied so benefits would kick in after my sick leave expires. Is that correct? Answer: It does depend on the wording of your policy. Most policies have a 'recurrence provision' which allows for someone to attempt to return to work, and if that doesn't go well within a certain time period, they can then go back on claim without having to start over again. You can ask your case manager for a copy of the policy to review if you have one. if you run into any issues, please give us a call ASAP and we will help (contact information below) Your Comment * Your Email * Your Name * Your City Note, your name, city and email is not displayed on the website.
