Add Comment Question: I recently applied for LTD and had a mental health physician that I see for my mental health care fill out my application. I had also seen my GP around the same time about my health and so I put on my application that she was also involved in my claim. However I have not submitted any formal paperwork from her. Should I have her fill out paperwork or is that not necessary because my main treating physician filled out forms. Im concerned my insurance company will request records anyway. Answer: Typically, the insurers are more interested in receiving notes from your specialist, vs a GP, so it's possible that your mental health physician will be enough. If you're unsure, you can ask your case manager directly if submitting that information would impact their decision. By asking, you're getting ahead of possible delays that may occur if the insurer decides in a few weeks that they need more information and want to review that as well to make a decision. As you mentioned, it's possible, and likely, that at some point down the road they'd want this information, it's just a balance to try and provide such so there are not any undue delays in your application process.
