Add Comment Question: I currently applied for LTD, I had my doctor, employer, and myself fill out all the forms the company required from me. Now that it's done, I have a case manager but she is wanting me to send them after i request from the government site, the activity on my health card for the last 2 yrs, a list of my medications given over the last 2 years, and additional forms from my doctor, they are stating that in the last 2 yrs I would have to have no medical activity for 90 days within the time frame given to qualify for LTD but if Ive always had medical activity over the timeframe they provided, they will not cover me. I'd like to know 1. are they allowed to ask for my health card activity? 2. are they allowed to deny me if I was seeking medical attention in the time frame they provided where they say they will only cover me if there was no medical activity within the time frame given for up to 90 days. I've never had these requests/issues before. Answer: Thanks for your question. Generally, the insurer would be entitled to copies of your health card activity in order to make a decision on your claim. It sounds like your insurer is trying to determine if you have a "pre-existing condition", as per your policy. It's often best to comply with their requests, and if they deny your claim for any reason, contact us again ASAP and we'll review to see how we can help.
