Add Comment Question: I was injured during a Plasma Donation to Canadian Blood Services. on March 29, 2022. I had the plasma forced back into my arm with pressure, but not back into the blood vessel. Instead my blood products were pressure pumped into my interstitial tissue; causing swelling, pressure, bruising. Eventually an xray taken Dec, 2022 shows deposits which are read by the radioogist as mineralizations in the forearm muscle. When the mucsle constricts this causes pain. I experienced a great deal of pain and constant discomfort for 15 months since the incident in March 2022. CBS is only offering to cover expenses such as Physio, or a prescription, or other such costs. I was on one week off work at the time of the incident, on staycation. I returned to work and struggled through the days work, on analgesics and holding back tears, for months. They will only pay if I sign off on any future coverage. My concern is that the injury affects my right forearm; when I tense the forearm muscle. It is still painful, It stlll aches if I perform an exercise which demands arm strength and also throughout my work day. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and must utilize the injured arm constantly throughout my patient treatment. I have been reluctant to make CBS pay as I support their services. Usually. I just know that the clinic was either under staffed or distracted as I was not checked once during donation. I had informed the staff that I was a novice plasma donor. I noticed the arm pressure and was waving frantically and calling out to get help. Most staff were in back room or across the room busy with other donors. It shouldhave stopped or an alarm should have gone off said the attendent. I am distressed as my arm is not recovered fully; my physio said he cant help me anymore. The CBS insurance keep phoning, and will only pay me when I end my claim. Answer: I'm going to email you about this directly.
