Add Comment Question: I am suffering from a condition and my doctor provided me a medical certificate allowing 3 month medical leave from work. Upon presenting the doctors certificate at work, my employer is not granting my medical leave and is asking me to quit from my job and apply for employment insurance. I have no intention of quitting and would like to return back to work after my treatment. What are my rights here? Is the employer responsible in granting me the medical leave? Answer: Your employer can't do that. Do NOT quit your job. Your employer must allow you time for medical leave and keep your job until you are able to return (subject to some caveats). Please contact us at the number of email below and we will advise you of all your options. You have rights and your employer is not allowed to disregard them. If they let you go/fire you, they will have to pay you compensation by way of severance and possibly even human rights damages. Again, our contact info is below.
