Add Comment Question: I am 53 and I have Parkinson’s (young onset). I’m now on full time LTD and have been shown to be fully disabled for any occupation. I’m also in the CPP disability application process. As I have 12 years to retirement age, and an accruing COLA stipend, I realize my benefit package is expensive to Manulife. I’m recently now experiencing cognitive impairment/ dysregulation with some days very severe. Is there anything I need to be aware of to watch for coming down the road that Manulife might try to deny or pay me out? I’d like to prepare now before more cognitive issues advance with this neurodegenerative disease. Thanks for any help you can provide. Answer: When an insurer is getting ready to cut someone off of benefits, there's often (but not always) an increase in them asking for additional information, documentation, and so on. They may also advise that they're arranging an assessment, or having a doctor do a paper-review of the medical file. If you're cut-off benefits for any reason, or suspect that you may be cut-off soon, let us know right away and we'll connect you with an LTD lawyer for a free consultation.
