I'm i a position where I've been of STD for 6 months awaiting a decision from LTD.
My doctor supports my need to be off work full time ( as well as my psychologist). I've been denied once from Manulife and mounted an appeal.
My question is this, I have to support my family...full stop. If I'm forced back I'll need to take highly addictive drugs just to cope ( anxiety/panic/PTSD)...I'll ask my doctor to send me back with accommodations to work part-time..but how will this effect taking them to court if I've basically told my doctor I'm well enough to go back(1/2 time)....even though I'm not well enough, just so I can feed my family? Won't the Insurance say" your doctor said you could go back?"

Unfortunately if you go back to work that will undermine your claim. We help people in your situation all the time and we generally advise against appeals because they are not effective in our experience (since you're appealing to the same people who cut you off in the first place). If you are unable to work and have the support of your doctor, we can help, but it will take time to resolve (generally from a few months to a year). You should also apply for CPP Disability for some monetary assistance. My contact info is below if you want to speak about your options, but the reality is that if you go back to work you will not receive LTD.
