If you have been on ltd and are now cleared to go back to work, if you decide to retire rather than go back to your employer are there any cost implications?

I’m not sure what costs implications you are asking about. If you are no longer disabled then the insurer will stop paying and if you want to retire you can just inform your employer of that.
