Add Comment Question: Hello, I am planning to return to work from a short term leave from depression. My psychologist wants me to attend weekly meetings with her during my gradual return to work over 4 weeks and a few appointments when I am back to full time. The problem is her hours are only during my work hours. I checked our company’s Return To Work policy and it says that staff are expected to attend doctor and therapy appointments outside of work hours; if we attend these appointments during work hours we won’t get paid. I am wondering if they have a right to do that? Don’t they have an obligation to accommodate me for my disability, if the only time I can get treatment for my depression is during work hours? Thank you. Answer: Thank you for your question. They are required to give you the time off to attend the appointments, but do not have to pay you for that time.
