Hi I’m a teacher in Calgary and I was denied long term disability last July by my school board insurance. I returned to work in September 2025 still in chronic pain with work restrictions but my knee pain has gotten worse I have a ganglion cyst in knee that has caused my left knee to have limited mobility can’t straighten my knee. Lastly my principal decide to evaluate me in November because I was struggling in the classroom because of my chronic pain. So my question is I need to talk to my union Alberta Teacher Association first and then contact one of your disability lawyers ? Not sure because I am in a union. Please advise

I'm sorry to hear this. It does depend on the individual union and the collective agreement associated with such. Please give us a call and we'll be able to let you know if we have the jurisdiction to assist or if you'll need to use your union.
