I have returned to work on reduced hours.i Currently do 4 hours per day. Currently on ltd. I am a diabetic and was on ltd because of a toe amputation.

I work in ontario in retail. My employer asked me to sign a letter where when business is slow they can reduce my hours to 32 hours from 40 hours.

They are also laying people off. I am concerned how would this letter effect my ltd . Also if laid off effect my severance package. Can they force me to sign this letter.

With regard to how this could impact your LTD benefits, unfortunately, it would depend on the terms of your specific policy (which of course I do not have). That said, the test for qualifying for LTD is one of functionality. So typically the availability of work is not a factor. If you're cut off benefits for any reason, please contact our firm right away and we'll connect you with a lawyer for a free consultation.

With regard to the rest of your questions about your employment, I hate to move you around from one place to another, but you've connected to our LTD department, as opposed to our employment team – and those would really be employment matters. I recommend using our free employment questions website (www.terminationquestions.com) as a starting point.
