I have been on long-term sick leave from my employer since 2015. I am considering taking a part time time job to supplement my income. I would like to know if I am allowed to do this and how many hours a week would I be permitted to work. I certainly do not want to jeopardize my current income from the insurance company (Manulife Financial)

You need to look at your LTD policy. Some policies allow a claimant to earn a certain amount of money without jeopardizing their disability income but some policies don’t allow that. It’s also possible that if you can and start working that your insurer will take that to mean that you can work and are not disabled and they may cut off your disability payments.
