Can I do volunteer work while on disability

Unfortunately, this depends on the terms of your specific policy (which I of course do not have). Some policies have terms that restrict these types of activities, and some do not.

That said, even if your policy doesn't have such restricting terms, the insurance company may still believe that your volunteer work shows that you have enough functionality to return to remunerative work as well. This analysis may depend on what you're doing when volunteering, how many hours per week it is, and so on.
