Ask your question and a Long-term Disability Lawyer in Canada will answer in minutes
I have been on LTD for over 9 years and my benefits brochure does not say anything about restrictions for traveling. I have asked both Manulife and my union if a policy exists and they both have told me they don't have one other than the summary benefits brochure. I want to ask if there are restrictions for travel even though it would be physically challenging for me to travel but don't want to get flagged and trigger an investigation or sent to medical assessments etc. My union wants to know if I have a specific question as our union president is on the board of trustees that manages the plan. Should I ask what the regulations or restrictions are for traveling while on LTD?
There should be an LTD policy and typically, Manulife would have the responsibility to provide it under the Insurance Act - https://stlawyers.ca/disability-law/faq/obtaining-your-ltd-policy/
