I am LTD for last 10 years , I get regular pay via my insurance company, I am planing to move abroad with my parents for more support , is there any provision for my long term disability provider to pay me a settlement ..

my condition is life long. I am hoping living with my parents and family I can get more support and help that I need. I


I am approved until age 65. I am 50 at the moment.

Typically, when on LTD, you have an ongoing obligation to prove that you remain totally disabled, and thus eligible for benefits. Additionally, you will need to check your policy to see what it says surrounding travel restrictions. Often, there are limits to receiving benefits if you are out of country.

In terms of a lump sum, there generally is no obligation for an insurer to provide that and it isn't something that we recommend you ask for. Insurers do get suspicious of this request which could cause issues. If, however, the insurer offers a lump sum, that is different.
