If I go on long term disability and my current employer has no other work options for me, can I get retraining for a different job while still collecting benefits? Would I get laid off from my job?

Your employer must keep your job open for you until you are able to go back to work. If they don't have a job for you then you may have a claim for severance and possibly human rights damages.
