I have been on LTD for just over 2 years and have just been approved for CPP disability pension. Going forward what can I expect from the insurance company as far as continually being asked for updates, phone calls etc. I also understand any retro monies I receive from CPP dis. goes to the insurance company. Am i correct in assuming that any monies my children receive from Cpp dis. is money for my children, and the insurance company cannot touch their money?
Thank you

Excellent questions. Yes, you will need to provide updates and comply with the insurer's reasonable requests for medical documents so long as you are on their LTD plan. Monies you receive from CPP disability are deducted from any payments made by the LTD insurer in most cases. The children's CPP benefits, however, should not go to the insurer. There is a body of caselaw supporting that despite the fact that some insurers try to get their "hands" on that money.
